An interesting and competent comment about a primitive sculpture of Western Nepal on " Catalogue de la Collection Tibetaine et Himalayenne du Musee de Confluences (Ancien Museum de Lyon)", Christophe Roustan Delatour. Cahiers scientifiques-Dept. du Rhone-n14 Lyon, 2007.

Protective or devotional (?) Tharu post. In the Tharu temples or local sanctuary the Tharu people use to erect two panels, one to the South direction, the other to the North. These panels represent a divine couple and are devoted to the female divinity Cabahwaguni and her compainion Daharcandi. The panel erected to the South defends the village from the evils spirits, the other to the North for defending the harvest and the fields. From an iconographic view point the panel devoted to the female divinity has on the top for or five points. The panel devoted to the male divinity only one point on the top.

Below frontal view. No decoration, in the wood of the post were put, maybe for offert, a great number of hand-made nails.

Detail of the nails view.

The iconography of a couple is the central theme of this commemorative and devotional post. The style of the carving is primitive. Also here were put hand-made nails. The subject represent probably the divine couple of Cabahwaguni and Daharcandi.
